The editorial praises Brendan Reilly for his focus on reforming Cook County’s government and restoring fiscal responsibility, highlighting his experience and pragmatic approach as reasons he would bring positive change compared with the long-serving incumbent.

The path to safer streets, stronger neighborhoods, and lower taxes begins now
The path to safer streets, stronger neighborhoods, and lower taxes begins now
Brendan Reilly is running for Cook County Board President to end crooked insider deals that bilk taxpayers; restore fiscal transparency and responsibility; and build a more efficient government that works for us. From making critical investments in public safety to make our streets safe, to building homes to anchor meaningful community revitalization, Brendan Reilly has the plan and the track record of success to get the job done.
Cook County is at a tipping point. For too long, it’s been run for the insiders, not the people. Brendan Reilly has spent his career standing up to the powerful: fighting against government waste and getting results. As County Board President, he’ll invest in making our neighborhoods safer; building the housing we need to anchor community revival in struggling communities; and attracting new private investment to grow the local tax base and cut the burden on homeowners and small businesses.

It's Time for a Change in Leadership
It's Time for a Change in Leadership
Cook County can’t afford four more years of wasteful insider deals, broken promises and reckless public spending. President Preckwinkle’s record is clear: entanglement in the nearly $40M wasteful Tyler Technologies contract for an unusable County database system; penalized by a Jury of her peers with a $1.4 million legal judgment for lying about a political opponent. Preckwinkle mentored and elevated to elected office both Brandon Johnson to Mayor and her former Chief of Staff, Kim Foxx, to Cook County State’s Attorney. Their collective, failed leadership has made Chicago and communities across Cook County less safe. It’s time for honest, common-sense leadership that makes government work for the people, not the insiders.

A Real Plan for the Future
A Real Plan for the Future
The Path to Prosperity isn’t a slogan, it’s Brendan Reilly’s blueprint to deliver safer streets, affordable housing and real property tax relief. It builds on and protects our public safety nets while creating new opportunities for more families to join the middle-class that America once promised to all citizens. By pairing public safety reform with prioritizing private investment and economic growth, Reilly’s plan will address what is broken and builds what is next.

Meet Brendan Reilly
Brendan Reilly is a proven change agent who has taken on the powerful and won. In 2007, in a major political upset, Reilly challenged and unseated a 36-year incumbent City Council veteran. As Alderman for downtown Chicago, Reilly brought new transparency to city government, fought to protect taxpayers and stood up to four different mayors on behalf of his constituents. Now he’s ready to deliver that same results-driven leadership for all of Cook County.
